Goodbye hookah lounge!
When Jay and I first walked around the property, we couldn't believe there were actually two homes that we would be acquiring! If you have ever read any of the Christmas articles written about our family, you already know that we have a lot of out-of-town relatives that visit during the holidays...I knew instantly we could put this sweet little home to good use!
The carriage house is roughly 1900 square feet! Back in the late 30's, it was home to the gardener that took care of the very large and impressive garden that sat in front of the home. (If you look at the history link under 980 Shady you can see the expansive garden.) The Carriage house had 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, but after Landschute has made their mark on, it will have 3 bedrooms and 3 baths.
The newly added third bedroom is the old attic space. It is currently being transformed into a beautiful master suite. When Jay and I first walked into the attic, Jay said, "oh great, we get a hookah lounge!" It really was something to see...The ceilings were at an angle and draped with mismatched fabrics that had been pinned to the ceiling. Overall, it had a real hippie vibe. To this day, we still refer to it as "the hookah lounge."
Jon Monson has already ripped out the hookah lounge, added a dormer (the master bed will tuck in quite nicely) and is turning it into a fabulous master bedroom! He has also gutted the main floor, ripping out the wall that separated the kitchen from the living room, prepped the floors for beautiful new wood and gutted the whole kitchen! Wow, did all of that make a HUGE difference!
